ReplyDeleteHai Nikhil,
ReplyDeleteMy son's name is also Nikhil & we are also Iyers. My favourite music director happens to be O P Nayya & I truly appreciate your taste & the pains that you have taken to pinpoint the raagaas of his songs. Most of your information is correct except 'Raat Bhar Ka Hai Mehmaan Andhera—Sone Ki Chidiya(1958)' which is in Raag Jogiya (Saaveri in carnatic music.) which is also confused with Raag Kaalingada (Maayaamaalavagowla in carnatic music)
Wonderful info. Latha is right. Yaman is an evening raaga and Jogiya is a morning raaga. And the lyrics so appropriate for morning: 'Kis se roke ruka hai SAVERA...'. OP was skillful to make classic so simple and catchy. Thanks to make Indian classic sustain and spread...

ReplyDeleteAstonishing work my dear friend ! So many songs on Piloo only and that too from a single music director ! What a work ! Plz do the same work for other music directors if possible. I know what it takes !! Immense passion, excellent knowledge and a studious nature with a gift from nature ! Thanks again and agaij.
ReplyDeleteDil Leke Daga Denge—Naya Daur(1957)
ReplyDeleteThis song seems to be on raag Pahadi rather than Yaman.
Latha.. The carnatic raga Maya Malava Gowla is called Bhairav in Hindusthani music if I am not mistaken.
ReplyDeleteAsho
can some one tell me that which " RAAG" is used in song "Mujhe tum yaad karna aur mujhko yaad aana tum"??
